BMW comes equipped with advanced features such as keyless entry systems, keyless ignition systems , automatic features and if there is a problem with the engine than the traditional engine problem light has been replaced with inspection lights. Many of you who do not understand what an inspection light is , should read this article to understand the functions and basics of an inspection light and how to disable the light if its causing a lot of trouble.

An inspection light appears on the speedometer of a car when there is some problem with the car such as a leak in the brake oil , a problem with the engine belt, a micro processor chip not functioning well or to sum it up when the car requires system maintenance and service. An inspection light is usually indicated by a yellow light blinking on the speedometer.

The best way to disable the inspection light would be to take the car to a BMW showroom for system maintenance to check what is the problem in the car to avoid unforeseen contingencies. People make the mistake of bringing their cars to a normal service centre which usually is not as effective as the BMW official showrooms are. On the other hand if you just want to disable the inspection light then there are a few simple steps to be followed in the order described below.

Step 1: Turn the ignition off Step 2: Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position 1. Step 3 : Hold the button pressed for about 5 secsuntil you see “Oil Service” or “Inspection” with “Reset” or “Re” in the display then let go Step 4 : Press the button again and hold for approximately 5 secs. until “Reset” or “Re” flashes Step 5: As soon as the “reset” flashes on the screen , stop pressing immediately .

The Inspection light should no longer be there when you start your engine again. This is a fairly easy step by step procedure only if followed in the correct manner.

BMW users should be aware that they are using a highly technological car in terms of drive and transmission. It should be noticed that if a light flashes on the meter than handling the problem themselves should not be a priority. They should contact the vendor to sort out the problems they are facing if they want to avoid further problems. Because if something goes wrong with the microprocessor chip then the whole system software might be at risk.
